Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

BonusPayCalc (“we”, “us”) operates the website at bonuspaycalc.com. We publish free compensation calculators and explanatory guides. We are an independent publisher; we do not sell software, we take no vendor placement fees, and we have no relationship with your employer.

For any privacy question, corrections, or a request to exercise the rights described in section 8, email hello@bonuspaycalc.com. We answer privacy requests within 30 days.

2. What we do not collect

One exception worth knowing: if you use a “copy result link” button, your inputs are written into the URL so the scenario can be reproduced. That link is created on your device. If you then paste it somewhere public, the numbers in it become visible to whoever reads it. Nothing forces you to use that feature.

3. Information collected automatically

Like practically every website, our web server and our service providers record standard technical information when a page is requested:

Server access logs are retained for a short operational period and then rotated out. We do not attempt to identify individuals from them.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

BonusPayCalc itself sets no tracking cookies. The site uses sessionStorage for one purpose only — remembering that you dismissed a sticky advert — and that value never leaves your device.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. The calculators will continue to work normally with cookies fully disabled, because they do not use them.

5. Advertising

This site is supported by advertising. Adverts are what keep the calculators free and free of a paywall.

Google and the DoubleClick DART cookie

Google is one of the third-party vendors serving adverts on this site. Google uses cookies, including the DoubleClick DART cookie, to serve adverts to visitors based on their visits to this site and other sites on the internet.

Third-party vendors and ad networks may also use cookies and web beacons to serve and measure advertising. This means that a vendor may receive your IP address, the page you are viewing, and general information about your browser in order to deliver an advert.

Your advertising choices

We do not control the privacy practices of advertising partners and we cannot see or access the cookies they set. Each partner operates under its own privacy policy.

6. Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, which pages are read and how visitors reach the site. Google Analytics may set cookies and process a truncated IP address. We do not use it to build profiles of individuals, and we do not upload any user-provided identifiers to it. Google’s handling of that data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy. You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting data using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

7. Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, our legal bases are: legitimate interests for security logging and aggregate analytics that do not identify you, and consent for advertising and analytics cookies. Where consent is required, it is requested before non-essential cookies are set, and you can change or withdraw it at any time using the same control.

You have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. Because we hold no accounts and no user records, in practice most requests concern data held by our advertising and analytics partners, and we will point you to the right controller. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.

8. Visitors in California and other US states

We do not sell personal information for money. Under the CCPA and CPRA, the sharing of identifiers with advertising partners for cross-context behavioural advertising may be treated as a “sale” or “share”. You have the right to opt out, to know what is collected, to request deletion, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. To exercise them, email hello@bonuspaycalc.com with the subject line “Privacy request”, or use the advertising opt-out links in section 5. We also honour Global Privacy Control signals sent by your browser.

9. Children

This site is aimed at working adults dealing with employment compensation. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided personal information through this site, contact us and we will delete it.

10. External links

Some pages link to external references such as the U.S. Department of Labor or IRS publications. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and this policy does not apply once you leave bonuspaycalc.com.

11. Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Because we store no personal data and operate no user accounts, the surface for a data breach involving your information is deliberately very small. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we make no absolute guarantee.

12. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the “last updated” date at the top will change and the revised policy will be posted on this page. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised policy.
