Terms of Use

The rules that apply when you use BonusPayCalc. The most important one: everything here is an educational estimate, not a payroll figure.

Last updated 20 August 2026

In one paragraph

BonusPayCalc gives you free educational estimates of variable pay. The calculators are not connected to your employer, your payroll system or any official record. They cannot know your plan’s exact rules, your tax position, or what your employer will actually decide to pay. Use the results to understand and sanity-check your compensation — never as the basis for a financial commitment, a legal claim, or a payroll instruction.

1. Agreement

By accessing bonuspaycalc.com you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site. These terms apply to every visitor, whether or not you use a calculator.

2. What this site provides

BonusPayCalc provides free calculators and written guides covering bonus pay, short-term and long-term incentives, sales commission, quota attainment and on-target earnings. Every calculator displays the formula it applies. All calculations run in your browser.

3. No professional advice

Nothing on this site is legal, tax, accounting, payroll, financial or human resources advice, and no professional relationship is created by using it. Compensation rules vary by employer, jurisdiction, plan document and individual circumstance in ways a general-purpose calculator cannot capture.

Before you act on a number from this site, confirm it against your own plan document and, where the stakes justify it, with your employer’s payroll or compensation team, or a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.

4. Estimates are gross, not net

Unless a page explicitly says otherwise, every figure is a gross planning estimate before tax and deductions. The calculators do not model income tax, supplemental withholding rates, social security, National Insurance, pension contributions, garnishments or any other payroll deduction. Your actual payment will normally be lower, and in some countries substantially lower, because bonuses are frequently withheld at a flat supplemental rate.

5. Accuracy and limitations

We take reasonable care to keep formulas correct and clearly explained, and we correct errors when they are reported. Even so:

  • Plans differ in ways the inputs on a page cannot express — for example whether a cap applies before or after a modifier, or whether proration is counted in days or whole months.
  • Benchmark ranges shown on the site are broad market observations, not a promise about your employer.
  • Employers frequently retain discretion to change, reduce or withhold a bonus, and a discretionary bonus may be nil regardless of any calculation.
  • Content can become out of date between reviews.

We make no warranty that the site or its results are accurate, complete, current or fit for any particular purpose.

6. Acceptable use

You may use the calculators freely for personal and internal business purposes, including modelling your own compensation or a team’s. You may not: scrape or bulk-download the site in a way that degrades service for others; republish substantial portions of the written content as your own; misrepresent results as official payroll figures or as advice from BonusPayCalc; or attempt to interfere with the site’s operation or security.

7. Intellectual property

The text, page structure, calculator implementations and design of this site are our property and are protected by copyright. You are welcome to link to any page, and to quote short passages with attribution and a link. Wholesale reproduction requires written permission.

8. Advertising and third-party links

This site is funded by advertising. Adverts are supplied by third-party networks and their presence is not an endorsement; we do not select or vet individual advertisers. Pages may also link to external references such as government publications. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy or practices of any third-party site or advert. See the privacy policy for how advertising affects your data.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, BonusPayCalc is not liable for any loss or damage — including lost income, lost opportunity, negotiation outcomes, or decisions taken in reliance on a result — arising from use of this site. You use the site at your own risk and on an “as is” and “as available” basis. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

10. Availability

We aim to keep the site available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Pages, calculators and features may be changed, consolidated or withdrawn at any time.

11. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated. The date at the top of this page shows the current version, and continued use after a change means you accept it.
